Dr. McKenna is a board-certified
pediatrician who has been in private practice since 1984. He is an assistant clinical
professor of pediatrics at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and is
affiliated with Kosair Children's Hospital. He has genuine interest in allergy and sports
medicine, but loves the challenge of general pediatrics.
Dr. McKenna completed his medical training at the University of
Louisville in 1981. He followed graduation with his pediatric residency at Kosair
Children's Hospital. Prior to working in Prospect, Dr. McKenna spent two years in private practice in Corydon, Indiana.
He is the father of six children and considers family his top
priority. He and his wife, Patty can be seen at many functions in the community in support
of their children. Dr. McKenna loves the beach and spends a lot of his free time outside, especially in the garden.
Dr. McKenna encourages parents to always try to communicate with
their children, especially teenagers. Don't be afraid to set reasonable limits and learn
to say "no" on occasion. Touch your kids often and give them a little quality
time each day and stay involved with their education and social encounters to help them meet their potential of productive and respected young adults.
